"Are you two going to sleep together tonight? Ha! Ha! Ha!" Brian teased when he passed by Jared and Vera during their hike to their destination. It was their year end holidays trip with their classmates of class 4 Mystery.
"Will you just shut up? I'm not his girlfriend!" Vera growled. She was about to punch Brian when their class monitor announced their arrival at their destination. She groaned.
Everyone worked together to clean up the camp site and set up their tents. It didn't take then long to complete their work. they were then exploring the woods near-by the camp site and hunted for wood to build a camp fire.
During dinner time, Jared and Vera decided to skip their dinner and went wondering in the woods. Their footsteps couldn't be heard at all and the mosquitoes froze to death as the walked by.
In the woods, Jared smiled and shone his pure white teeth. His eyes glittered in the darkness. Vera smiled along with Jared as if she understood.
"When shall we do it?" she asked.
"Let the demon's prey decide the time." replied Jared with a smile.
Vera nodded and laughed. Their laughs sounded like a devil's. It echoed in the woods. Birds fled when Jared joined in.
When Vera and Jared returned to the camp site, Brian was teasing then again. This time, Vera stayed quiet but her fists were ready to punch. Brian laughed and laughed and some of their classmates joined in too. Vera walked away, back in to her tent, picking up a stone on her way in. She held the stone in her hands and without sweat, broke it into pieces. She turned the tiny pieces of stone into dust.
At ten o'clock that night, before Brian went into his tent, he saw Jared and Vera talking near-by. He wanted to tease them again. He walked closer towards then quietly. But as he approached he saw their shadows had grown a pair of wings. Brian hid behind a tree that was nearest to Jared and Vera. To his surprise, he saw something that he wasn't meant to see.
He couldn't believe his eyes. A pair of fangs appeared under Jared's red lips. Brian shook his head in disbelief and looked again, this time, the fangs were no longer there. But when Brian blinked again, the fangs appeared, along with a pair of jet black wings on Jared's back. His eyes were turning glorious red.
Brian took a few steps backwards and accidentally stepped on a pile of leaves. Jared looked up and Vera turned around. Brian immediately fled. He ran for quite a while before turning his head around to have a glimpse. Jared and Vera were no longer to be seen. Brian stopped and fell to the ground, choking for air.
"Giving up already?" a voice asked.
"W-w-who's t-there?" stammered the scared and tired Brian.
"Us." Jared and Vera said at the same time as they appeared in front of him. Brian gasped, his eyes widened as he stared at them.
"Vera, tie him up." Jared commanded.
"Yes, my master." Vera took out a long, rough rope and tied the frozen Brian up. She handed the end of the rope to Jared.
"What a-are y-y-you going t-to d-do t-t-to me?" Brian asked worriedly.
Jared did not reply. before Brian asked again, Jared dragged him all the way towards a tree, Jared's speed was unpredictable. He made a quick turn and Brian hit a tree and with another tun, Brian knocked his head on a stone. And when they were out of the woods, Brian was covered with his blood. Vera untied him and both she and Jared left, leaving the half dead Brian there.
Knowing that he's going to be gone soon, Brian wrote his final words on the ground with his trembling red hand.
The next morning, students of 4 Mystery saw Brian lying dead. Everyone was busy discussing and guessing what had happened to him. Was he murdered? Did he kill himself?
"Hey guys, look!" one of them shouted. Everyone gathered beside him.
"They are not human." the other one read the words that was written beside Brian.
"What does that mean?" someone asked. And another discussion began.
Sitting on a tree branch near-by. Jared and Vera looked at the scene with glittering eyes. Then, they disappeared into mid-air.
The truth stayed unknown until now. No one knows what hat happened. It's a mystery.
